A BRIEF HISTORY

"HIS ROOTS ARE IN BLUES ROCK BUT HONESTLY SAM LOVES MUSIC AND IS JUST WRITING WHAT HE LIKES REGARDLESS OF GENRE"

Having spent the majority of his early musical career touring internationally in rock and metal bands Sam Horton decided to embark on a solo career in 2014 with the release of his debut record ‘EP Volume 1’. He went on to release his second EP ‘Move Along’ (2015) and his first album ‘Back to Basics’ (2017) whilst releasing numerous singles in between.

When he started playing guitar Sam would learn from John Frusciante, Kurt Cobain, Billie Joe Armstrong, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and others. So his roots are in blues-rock. But honestly, Sam loves music and is just writing what he likes, regardless of genre. Overall, it would be safe to say Sam writes pop music. Although known for studying other artists and applying what he learns to his music, he doesn’t like to stick to a set genre.

His influences span from contemporary r&b with the likes of Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake, acoustic folk sounds of City & Colour and Jason Mraz, rock legends such as Bon Jovi and Led Zeppelin, classic soul such as Aretha Franklin and Stevie Wonder, to modern day rap/hiphop such as 6lack and Drake.

Some of the highlights of Sam’s solo career have been;

Performing at the Isle of White Festival.

Performing in Switzerland @ Le Nouveau Monde.

Getting airtime on Radio 1’s BBC introducing show.

Sam has developed an arsenal of over 100 cover songs and 20+ original songs so can cater to a variety of occasions. He is always perfecting his live show and working on writing better music.

Sam is currently taking bookings throughout 2019/20.
